Boarding

We want your pet to have a great experience and you to have a worry free trip. We provide the information below to make the check-in process go smoothly and to answer most of the questions we normally get.

Before Arriving

Boarding Info check in form

The sheet contains valuable information about our boarding requirements including needed vaccinations, food, feeding times, emergency numbers, drop off and pick up, toys, your pet's bedding, and their expected daily routine.

As a general rule we require:

  1. Vaccinations: Please bring a copy of your pet's current vaccinations. For your pet's safety and the safety of Tin Woof Inn personnel, we require that your pet be current with rabies and DHLPP. We also require that your pet be vaccinated for Bordetella.

A word about Vaccinations, because it can be confusing. Most vets refer to core vaccinations, and mean rabies and a 5 in 1 vaccination for distemper and parvo (DHLPP). Some vets only give rabies and a combo distemper and parvo. We require rabies and distemper. We also require Bordetella which protects against canine cough, which can impact pets in a boarding environment. For most vets, Bordetella is an elective vaccination and not routinely given unless you ask. People often tell us their pets have all the vaccinations “recommended by their vet”, and show up without Bordetella. Nearly every vet we have ever worked with with tell you to get a Bordetella vaccination if your pet is going to be boarded, but they don’t automatically know if your pet is going to the pet hotel. If you have any questions ask your vet or we can help provide clarity.

  1. Food: Please bring your pet’s own food. Our experience shows that your pet will be more comfortable if kept on the same food given at home.

  2. Emergency number: To our knowledge there is no 911 for pets. Please bring a number with you where you can be reached during your out of town stay.

  3. Admit form:  We have a Boarding form that you may want to fill out in advance to speed the check in of your pet(s).

  4. Drop off:  Please make arrangements to drop off your pet during normal business hours unless you have made prior arrangements with us.

  5. Fees: Unlike a lot of boarding facilities, who nickel and dime you to death, our normal fees cover your pet’s stay…period. Our normal fees include twice a day feedings, twice a day exercise/play periods; twice a day meds (no injections though) and free tender loving care. Other special services (cigars, chocolates on the pillow, morning paper, etc.) can be arranged depending on your pet's needs.

Special Needs

Our boarding facility is divided into a main kennel area and an annex.  The annex was designed to board older dogs, puppies or dogs who may not be used to a boarding environment. The annex has the same sized runs as the main kennel, but it is smaller and more intimate and generally more quiet.

Long Term Boarding Program

If you need to board your pet for longer than 1 month, please ask about our Long Term Boarding Program.  We offer attractive discounts, payment plans and can provide other services that your pet may need when left for an extended period of time.

Reservations

We encourage customers to make a reservation. This insures there will be room for your pet and gives us an opportunity to work with you make sure that everything (shot records etc.) is in order for your pet’s stay. We are often full on weekends, especially around 3 day weekends, holidays and during the summer (June to August). It is imperative that you have a reservation for Thanksgiving and Christmas as we are always full. When we are full, we can often accommodate your pet in a crate, so please ask about this option if you need it.

Hours of Operation

We have tried to make ourselves available when you are available, and manage costs. We are open early in the morning and later in the evening, 7 days a week…..'cause that is when people leave for vacation and come home from trips to grandma’s. We do not open the facility during the middle of the day, when you are at work and the dogs are napping.

We recognize that travel schedules don't always coincide with our normal hours. When possible we will try to coordinate a mutually agreeable alternative time for you to pick up your pet. It is very critical that you arrive at our facility at the agreed time. If you are late it is highly unlikely you will be able to get your pet. We will have to make special arrangements to accommodate an appointment and we too have other commitments. Cell phones are a wonderful invention so we encourage you to call if you will be late or need to make other arrangements.

Please note: We now accept cash, checks and CREDIT CARDS. Typically payment is made when you pick up your pet, but we will sure take your money anytime.
