FAQ's Can I bring my pet’s toys? Feel free to send along a couple of toys for your pet to chew on during his stay, but please don't empty the toy box. Should I bring my pet’s bed? We provide a soft, comfortable, sanitary bed for your pet. We DO NOT recommend that you send along the pet's bed. Many dogs like to chew up their bedding in a boarding environment, and it is very likely that the bed will get severely soiled, damaged or destroyed during your pet's stay….if not by your pet, then by his neighbor. Will my dog get to go outside, and how often? We will let your pet out in the exercise area for playtimes before the morning feeding and again in the afternoon before the PM feeding. Actual playtimes can vary based on your dog, his activity level, the weather, temperature etc. How do you handle pets with special needs? Our boarding facility is divided into a main kennel area and an annex. The annex was designed to board older dogs, puppies or dogs who may not be used to a boarding environment. The annex has the same sized runs as the main kennel, but it is smaller and more intimate and generally more quiet. Do you have a Long Term Boarding Program? If you need to board your pet for longer than 1 month, please ask about our Long Term Boarding Program. We offer attractive discounts, payment plans and can provide other services that your pet may need when left for an extended period of time. Do I need a reservation? We encourage customers to make a reservation. This insures there will be room for your pet and gives us an opportunity to work with you make sure that everything (shot records etc.) is in order for your pet’s stay. We are often full on weekends, (especially around 3 day weekends), holidays and during the summer (June to August). It is imperative that you have a reservation for Thanksgiving and Christmas as we are always full. When we are full, we can often accommodate your pet in a crate, so please ask about this option if you need it. Do you sell or adopt pets? No, not normally. We are not actively breeding any bitches for Australian Shepherd puppies at this time. We do not normally recommend any local breeders because we don’t have the time or resources to insure that local breeders are following sound breeding practices, or confirm the quality of their facility and insure their animals receive proper care. Problems with “back yard” breeders who are not registered with the USDA and often don’t follow appropriate breeding guidelines are prolific in our state and we would want to make sure that anyone we recommend is doing an ethical job. I understand you work with STAR (Saving the Animals of Rowan County)? We are proud of our work with STAR. In 2009 STAR saved more than 800 Rowan County animals from being euthanized and raised tens of thousands of dollars in donation. We board STAR dogs who meet the same health standards as all of our boarding and day care pets (vaccinations, no known or contagious health conditions, not aggressive), and often STAR transports originate from our facility.
